Movie stars, musicians and famous athletes. Celebrities not only bring some fun into our lives but also continue to inspire us every day with their distinct personalities and fashion. And while they make waves in almost every sector, we cannot take our eyes off of their engagement rings. Celebrity engagement rings are dazzling, extraordinary, one-of-a-kind and, most of the time, huge.
When celebrities announce that they are engaged, the rings they flaunt are often not-so-ordinary looking. Most celebrity rings feature unique cuts, different colored diamonds and alternative gemstones with intricate designs. If not, the ring is probably adorned with the largest diamond you've ever seen.
Engagement rings of celebrities usually hide a secret meaning, or a rich history in some cases, behind them. And some of these rings are as famous as their wearers. Keep reading to findmore information about your favorite celebrity’s ring. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a similar one from our refined collection!
Most celebrity engagement rings are designed by renowned jewelry designers, but we think it’s extra special when couples get involved in the design process to showcase their unique love.
Think of Hailey Bieber’s engagement ring. The famous model got engaged to Justin Bieber back in 2018. Justin designed the ring with an oval diamond as the center stone because he wanted a ring that flatters Hailey’s hands, which are “beautifully shaped” (his words, not ours). The solitaire ring is estimated to be between 6-10 carats and is a real feast to the eyes.
Paris Hilton is another celebrity that’s rocking a ring designed by her partner. Before popping the question to Paris Hilton, her current husband Carter Reum got in touch with famous jewelry designer Jean Dousset and collaborated for a custom ring. He even named the ring after Hilton. Called “Paris”, the ring features a head-turning 20-carat emerald diamond enhanced by two other diamonds on each side. Though lost partying at one point, the couple found the ring soon after and it’s been sitting pretty on Hilton’s finger for a couple of years now.
Some with the likes they received on social media and some with their carat size, celebrity rings always break the internet. This gives us the perfect excuse to talk about Selena Gomez’s engagement ring. The Disney star announced her engagement to the music producer Benny Blanco with a stunning marquise engagement ring through a record-breaking Instagram post. The marquise diamond is estimated to be between 4 to 8 carats and the band is decorated with pave set diamonds that really enhance the overall sparkle.
Mariah Carey’s engagement ring is another record-breaking piece. The massive emerald cut ring she received from the billionaire James Packer is a jaw-dropping 35-carat sparkler. With an estimated worth of $10 million, Carey’s ring still holds the record for the most expensive engagement ring belonging to a celebrity.
Some engagement rings accompany a familiar tune that adds to their fame. For instance, while Beyoncé was recording her hit record “All the Single Ladies”, she was actually engaged to the acclaimed rapper Jay-Z. We don’t know when exactly the song was written, but the rapper proposed to Beyoncé with a massive 18-carat emerald cut diamond ring in 2007. If you liked it, then you shoulda put a ring on it!
You might have heard a little song called “7 Rings”, but do you know the story behind it? After returning her original engagement ring to Pete Davidson after their break up, the talented singer and Wicked actor Ariana Grande took six of her best friends on a shopping trip. Tipsy from the champagne, she bought seven matching engagement rings for herself and her best friends! And this inspired the #1 hit. So it wouldn’t be wrong to say that these rings are among the most popular celebrity engagement rings.
When it comes to celebrity rings, extraordinary is expected. The artistic approach taken for these pieces is what makes us all excited and inspired. Take Katy Perry’s engagement ring for example. Her flower shaped ring with a pink center stone is the perfect testament for her creativity, which made us fall in love with the talented singer. Thanks to trendsetters like Perry, alternative engagement rings are getting more popular every day.
Lily Collins’ engagement ring is nothing short of extraordinary, either. The ring as well as the story surrounding it is, well, exceptional. Movie director and writer Charlie McDowell proposed to Collins with a unique rose-cut ring. The stunning piece features a 4 carat light-pink diamond in a bezel setting, making it even more special. It was actually stolen from the famous actor in a spa but was later found and returned to Collins.
An engagement ring symbolizes an eternal promise. And some of our favorite celebrity rings are just that– eternal. A fashion icon in the series Sex and the City and a fashion icon in real life, Sarah Jessica Parker has been rocking an exquisite engagement ring for over 20 years. Parker’s timeless ring features a cushion cut diamond that's 5 carats.
The Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony (collectively known as EGOT) recipient Viola Davis is another actor that’s been flaunting a stunning ring for over 20 years. Similar to Parker, hers too is a cushion cut diamond ring. But she preferred a halo setting instead of a solitaire piece and really amped up the brilliance. So if you’re looking for a ring that’ll still be in trend 20 years from now, you can add cushion cut engagement rings to your list.
Considered among the most popular celebrity engagement rings, Princess Diana’s engagement ring was very unconventional– and controversial. The ring was atypical for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the engagement ring Princess Diana chose herself was not directly from the royal jewelry collection, which was unusual on its own, and it was not custom-made. It meant that people outside the royal family could also buy and wear the same exact ring as the Princess of Wales, sending a powerful message about making the luxury and exclusivity associated with royalty more accessible to the general public.
Another reason was the ring itself. Princess Di went for a cluster ring that featured a 12-carat oval Ceylon sapphire stone which was circled by smaller diamonds. Choosing a white gold ring with a unique gemstone was definitely not a conventional choice for a member of the royal family. However, the ring was loved so much that the popularity of colored gemstones for engagement rings saw a sharp increase. The people’s princess herself must have also loved this ring as much as we do, because she kept wearing it even after her divorce from Prince Charles.
After Princess Diana tragically passed away in a car accident, her sons inherited the ring along with her jewelry collection. So it was speculated that Princess Diana’s engagement ring might make a comeback when either Prince William or Prince Harry decided to marry. And it did, when Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with his mother’s beloved ring. To this day, Kate Middleton carries Diana’s ring with pride and keeps her memory alive.
Though not exactly one of Diana’s rings, Meghan Markle’s engagement ring also features stones from Princess Di’s jewelry collection. Prince Harry decided to propose with a one-of-a-kind piece and designed his now-wife’s three-stone ring with the help of Queen Elizabeth’s jeweler. He picked a brilliant cushion-cut diamond as the center stone and retrieved the flanking stones from his late mother Princess Diana’s personal collection, honoring her legacy. It is no wonder that this ring is one of the most searched celebrity engagement rings of all time!
